About
Chandra Shekar Rallabandi is a Previz Artist by profession and an Experimental Artist by passion based in Vernon, BC; He is employed at Day For Nite, a visualization studio in Los Angeles.
Growing up watching excessive amounts of the classics like Tom and Jerry, The Road Runner Show, Ben 10, MAD (Music Art Dance), Jurassic Park, and other such brilliant cartoons, shows and movies, filled his imagination with the funny and the weird. Unbeknownst to him, Beowulf (2007) would be the movie that cemented the goal of becoming an animator in his young mind.
After graduating with a Bachelor's of Multimedia (majoring in Animation) from the International Academy Of Computer Graphics in India, he continued his education in 3D Animation at Sheridan College, Oakville. The two years he spent at Sheridan College would become pivotal in his artistic pursuits - exposing him to the mind-bendingly complex and diverse art world. He produced two student short films and while struggling through these overambitious productions, he realized the significance of pre-production and eventually discovered and fell in love with Previsualization/Rough Layout.
Chandu's career was kicked off at The Third Floor Inc, after graduating from Sheridan in the summer of 2017. His experience on this show made him realize how fun the Previz department is and he continued to cement his career as a Previz artist working with several studios like Industrial Light & Magic, Tangent Animation, and ON Animation Studios. Shows he worked on include but are not limited to - Skyscraper (2018), Playmobil The Movie (2019), Ladybug & Cat Noir: The Movie (2023), Maya And The Three(2021), and Hocus Pocus 2 (2022)
With experience from a diverse set of projects in both VFX and Animation shows and his interest in teaching, Chandu is excited to share his learnings with others. He aims to emulate collaborative teamwork on a project in his workshop - and become comfortable working alone or alongside a team.
Off-work hours, one can find Chandu pursuing his ever increasing list of interests. He enjoys Reading, Drawing, Biking, and playing the guitar among several others. Chandu's personal projects cover a wide range from Musical projects to making costumes and cosplaying.
