2020.10.30.edit1.jpg

WITH KEVIN JACKSON

WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

This course aims to lay the fundamentals of posing. What makes a pose strong? Why is a strong pose important? How do we use our poses to communicate the story clearly to the audience?

Posing is essential to the foundation of animation. You can have strong poses and bad animation, but you cannot have strong animation and bad poses. To put it another way; good animation is built on good poses.

An essential course for those willing to learn 3d animation by the hand of Sony Imageworks' Lead Animator Kevin Jackson and for those looking to revisit the essentials.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR

Kevin Jackson

Kevin Jackson is an animator from Los Angeles currently working at Epic Games in North Carolina.

Starting in 2005, he has 17 years of industry experience including major studios like Rhythm and Hues, Sony Pictures Imageworks, and Industrial Light and Magic, and has lived and worked abroad in India, Malaysia, Bali, and Singapore.

Some of his earliest influences include Roger Rabbit, Looney Tunes, Ren and Stimpy and comic books, which helped define his passion for cartoony style animation and action. Some of his career highlights include the Incredible Hulk, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, Hotel Transylvania 2 & 3, Popeye (short sizzle from Sony), and Into the Spiderverse. He has also enjoyed a brief opportunity to create and direct a short animation while in Bali, called "Half n Half."

Along with animation, Kevin has also developed a passion for teaching. Whether it's online or in person in places like India and Bali, he enjoys sharing his techniques and workflow with students that share the same passions.

Early mornings you can typically find Kevin reading, eating waffles, or exercising in the gym; In the evenings drawing, building legos, or playing games. Whenever there is time to travel he is most likely seeking the next best scuba diving and asian cuisine.
